FIIF Event on Corporate Sustainability Unveiled Tools for Enhanced Reporting

In anticipation of the 2025 deadline for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) integration into national legislation across EU member states, the Finnish Industrial Internet Forum (FIIF) hosted a pivotal event focusing on corporate sustainability. The directive mandates that all large companies, along with listed small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), regularly disclose their social and environmental impact.

This FIIF event underscored the growing importance of robust sustainability practices in corporate strategy and provided advice on valuable tools and insights for companies striving to meet the new regulatory requirements and achieve long-term sustainable growth.

The event was opended with a presentation by Lisbet Frey from DIMECC, who unveiled an international project aimed at bolstering sustainability reporting in the IT and service sectors. The initiative, a collaboration among organizations from Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, is developing a digital tool to support companies in their sustainability journeys. This tool, named the “ESG Tool,” is slated for completion by the end of next year and will be piloted in ICT companies. The ESG Tool is designed to help entrepreneurs in the ICT and service sectors evaluate their companies’ environmental, social, and economic impacts.

The event’s agenda was packed with insightful presentations from experts in the field of sustainability: Otto Jalas of Valas Solutions discussed the CFP24 initiative, offering free carbon footprint calculations for Technology Industries of Finland members, Heikki Perko of Prizztech Oy highlighted how responsibility in sustainability can provide a competitive advantage, focusing on aiding supply chains with sustainability data, Ausrine Silenskyte from the University of Vaasa addressed the importance of strengthening Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in SME management and Appu Haapio-Karjalainen of Arter Oy concluded the event with reflections on two decades of corporate sustainability and future expectations.
